Grupo Silvestre presents its seed distribution and sales division in partnership with two major internationally recognized strategic partners: Advanta Seeds International (corn seeds) and Lark Seeds (tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, etc.).

In modern agriculture, choosing the best seeds is one of the most important decisions to ensure the profitability and sustainability of the crop. In this context, hybrid seeds have significantly improved compared to open-pollinated (OP) seeds, offering multiple advantages to farmers.

Less Dependence on Pesticides

Hybrid seeds are characterized by their genetic resistance to various pests and diseases, which reduces the use of pesticides. This not only reduces operating costs for farmers but also reduces the environmental impact and protects the health of those who manage the crops.

Higher Plant Density in the Field

Thanks to their improved genetics, hybrid seeds allow for higher yields per hectare without compromising crop quality. They also reduce the vegetative period and improve post-harvest life with the same area, thus maximizing yield and increasing income per unit of cultivated area.

Uniform and Consistent Production

One of the problems with open-pollinated seeds is variability in production. Hybrid seeds, on the other hand, are designed to produce uniform crops, with plants of similar size and yield. This homogeneity facilitates harvesting and improves the quality of the final product, which is essential for accessing more demanding markets.

Greater Vigor and Tolerance to Abiotic Stress

Adverse weather conditions, such as drought, high temperatures, or nutrient-poor soils, can seriously affect crops. Hybrid seeds are developed to have greater vigor and greater tolerance to abiotic stress, resulting in stronger crops that are better able to adapt to adverse conditions. This allows farmers to reduce losses in situations of environmental stress.

Improved Quality and Yield Traits

Finally, hybrid seeds offer higher-quality fruits, in terms of size, flavor, color, and firmness. This is especially important for crops destined for markets that value these attributes, such as export markets. By improving product quality, farmers can obtain a better price for their harvest.

In short, the use of hybrid seeds represents a significant advantage for farmers seeking to maximize their yields and reduce costs.
